This paper analyzes conditions and developmental perspectives of minor enterprises and their owners' fate. The author considers: (1) changes taking place in Western European countries and the U.S. regarding number and productional profile of small industrial enterprises, as well as their passage from production to service tending, (2) rapid reduction in agriculture in the number of farms and growing concentration of production, especially striking in the United States.
