Effect of gibberellic acid on the growth of citrus seedlings

, : Effect of gibberellic acid on the growth of citrus seedlings. Punjab Fruit J 26-27: 342-6. bibl. 9

Eight-month-old rough lemon seedlings were sprayed with 10-200 p.p.m. GA solutions 4 times at fortnightly intervals beginning in early May. A fortnight after the final treatment the plants sprayed with the 100 p.p.m. solution showed the greatest height increase, viz. 35.3 cm. (200%) compared with 7.1 (40%) in the control, but growth was somewhat spindly with all concentrations and the leaves were pale green. Height increase was due to cell elongation, not to cell division.
