Estimation of calcium pantothenate on agar plate with a mutant of Bacterium coli 99-1

, : Estimation of calcium pantothenate on agar plate with a mutant of Bacterium coli 99-1. Rend. 1st. super. Sanita, Rome. 20: 590-599

The medium contained, in g., sodium citrate 5, ammonium sulfate 5, NaCl 1, MgSO4 1, K2HPO4 2, agar 15, methylene blue hydrochloride 0.0065, eosin Y 0.4, in 1 litre water, with 3 per cent. sterilised lactose. Plate cultures of Bacterium coli 99-1 were incubated for about 20 hr. at 30 degrees C. Different amounts of calcium pantothenate, from 0.5 to 2.5 micro g. per ml., stimulated growth in diameter of the colonies linearly with concentration.
