Fractionated X-ray dose and chromosome aberrations in barley

, : Fractionated X-ray dose and chromosome aberrations in barley. Curr. Sci, 28: 8-9

Resting cells in root tips were exposed to a dose of 2400 r. applied continuously or divided into two equal fractions separated by 2, 4, 6 and 8 hr. When the fractionated dose was given with an interval of 2 hr., the frequencies of reunions (dicentrics and centric rings) and breaks (acentric fragments and "minutes") were considerably reduced in comparison with those obtained with the continuous dose. With an interval of 4 hr., the reduction was less pronounced.
