Habitat and fertilizing of Japanese larch (Larix leptolepis) in the Netherlands.

, : Habitat and fertilizing of Japanese larch (Larix leptolepis) in the Netherlands.. Dung. Forstw, 114-124

Good stands of Japanese larch require an acid soil (pH 4-4.5) of adequate moisture content and at least 150-200 ppm total P in the soil. Growth is improved by increasing supply of P up to 500-700 ppm, improvement being greater in moist than in dry soils. Increasing pH and high N supply on P-deficient soils depress growth. P fertilizers should be applied at up to 500 kg/ha P2O5, according to the levels of total P in soils containing <400 ppm of this nutrient.
