Two experiments on kale compared ammonium sulfate, calcium nitrate and urea each applied at 1 and 2 cwt. N/ac. At the lower rate ammonium sulfate was superior to calcium nitrate, at the higher rate calcium nitrate was better. Urea was less satisfactory; it was injurious to germination, early growth and crop yield.
