Oxidation of tyrosine by liver slices from adrenalectomised or protein-deficient rats

, : Oxidation of tyrosine by liver slices from adrenalectomised or protein-deficient rats. Biohimija. 25: 941-945

Rats weighing 140 to 150 g were given a diet with only 3% protein until they had lost from 25 to 30% of their initial weight and showed signs of deficiency. Rats which had both adrenals removed from 2 to 10 days before experiment were maintained with 1 % NaCl in the drinking water. For experiments the rats received intraperitoneally a single injection of 90 mg L-tyrosine of 5 mg cortisone acetate and were killed 5 h later with controls given injections of saline solution.
