Studies relating to paving materials for drying coffee on the ground in Angola

, : Studies relating to paving materials for drying coffee on the ground in Angola. Rev. Cafe portug, 4: 14, 5-16

Neither compacted soil, asphalt, concrete nor stone flooring fulfilled all the requirements for drying coffee, viz. simplicity of construction, low cost, good heating and hygroscopic properties and absence of unpleasant effects on flavour. Good quality flooring tiles, known to give good results, were not obtainable locally, but promising results were obtained by adjusting the texture of the soil to correct any excess or deficiency of plastic clay and mixing with it 10% of cement.
