The propagation of virus-infected vines: a danger for viticulture

, : The propagation of virus-infected vines: a danger for viticulture. Weinberg u. Keller, 9: 193-201. bibl. 7

A method is described for demonstrating the presence of the virus of infectious degeneration in Silvaner vines, using Chenopodium quinoa and C. amaranticolor as indicator plants. The indicator plants, inoculated with expressed sap to which nicotine sulfate had been added to delay virus inactivation, showed symptoms after 8 days. To demonstrate the latent presence of the virus good preliminary results have been obtained by using sap from the youngest developing leaves of suspect vines.
