The reactions & tolerance mechanisms of partial root systems of corns seedlings to high salt concentrations in liquid & solid media

, : The reactions & tolerance mechanisms of partial root systems of corns seedlings to high salt concentrations in liquid & solid media. Diss. Abstr, 23: 2273

Ability of roots to grow through a simulated fertilizer band depended on the salt concentration & the thickness of the band. A partial root system could tolerate higher salt-concentration media than could total root systems. When salt concentration in the fertilizer band was high, increasing the moisture content of the medium into which the roots emerged from near permanent wilting point to field capacity nearly doubled the P uptake from the band.
