The resistance of Spruce to barkbeetles.

, : The resistance of Spruce to barkbeetles.. Allg. Forst- u. Jagdztg, 127: 7; 8/9, 129-45; 168-87

A discussion of the factors favouring successful attack, chiefly on the basis of the author's own (published or unpublished) observations and experiments. Studies of osmotic values of phloem saps showed that these varied with the season, the weather, the site, and the part of the tree, normal summer values being ca. 12 atm. below the crown and 7 atm. at the roots. Values tend to decrease in May and June in the lowlands and in July in the mountains, and to increase in the autumn.
