The respiration of excised barley roots in the presence of different levels of simazine and certain substrates

, : The respiration of excised barley roots in the presence of different levels of simazine and certain substrates. Proc. 15th Southern Weed Conf, 271

Respiration of excised barley roots was measured in buffer and in the presence of glucose, alpha -ketoglutarate, aspartate and asparagine, alone and each with 9.6x10-5M, 1.9x10-4M, and 4.8x10-4M simazine. The substrates were used at 5.5x 10-2M. These experiments indicated that barley roots respond differently to certain substrates and different levels of simazine. There was a general trend of stimulation of respiration by simazine.
