The response of chicks to dietary animal fat in new and old environments

, : The response of chicks to dietary animal fat in new and old environments. Poultry Sci 41(4): 1106-1108

The results of a 4-week chick experiment are presented in which a control diet and a 10% added animal fat diet were compared in a new or clean environment and in an old or dirty environment. A growth response was obtained with fat in the new environment but not in the old. Hence, a diet-environment interaction was indicated. Possible explanations of this result are discussed.
