The response of forty-six rice varieties to photoperiod

, : The response of forty-six rice varieties to photoperiod. Philippine Agric 42(1): 12-17

Two-month photoperiodic treatments of 10 hr., 12 hr. or 15 hr. day lenths were imposed on month-old seedlings, using 6 plants to a variety. Differences between 10 hr. and 15 hr. treatments of less than 10 days to flowering were observed in 5 varieties. Differences between 15 and 31 days were obtained in 18 varieties, and the remaining 23 varieties became vegetative or had not flowered under the 15 hr. treatment. Photoperiodic response was more pronounced among late-maturing varieties and among varieties of tropical origin.
