The response of one-year-old tung trees to levels and placements of zinc sulfate as affected by soil type

, : The response of one-year-old tung trees to levels and placements of zinc sulfate as affected by soil type. Proc. amer. Soc. hort. Sci, 76: 300-309

One, 2 or 4 oz 89% ZnSO4 was applied to each tree on two fine sandy loams, a fine sand and a loamy fine sand. Total growth and feeding-root concentration in the soil were reduced on all but the loamy fine sand by mixing the Zn with the soil in which the tree was planted, particularly when the high level of Zn was placed in the root zone. Zn concentration was higher in trunk leaves and provided a more sensitive measure of Zn uptake than did Zn concentration in lateral leaves.
