The restoration of a structurally degenerated soil

, : The restoration of a structurally degenerated soil. Soil Sci. Soc. Amer. Proc, 21: 131-134

Compact soil cores were prepared by moulding and air-drying puddled soil with and without addition of 0.5% (by weight) of lucerne meal, or of limestone to raise the pH from 5.6 to 7.0 + 1000 lb/acre of 5-20-20 fertilizer before puddling. A fourth type of core was prepared by puddling with a chlordane emulsion instead of water. The cores were buried for two years under forest, grass and clean cultivated soil.
