The results of an investigation of tuber number and tuber weight in 60 potato varieties. (Jahrbuch 1958 der Bundesanstalt fur Pflanzenbau und Samenprufung in Wien.)

, : The results of an investigation of tuber number and tuber weight in 60 potato varieties. (Jahrbuch 1958 der Bundesanstalt fur Pflanzenbau und Samenprufung in Wien.). Bodenkultur. 10: 115-25

It was found that both the number of tubers produced and the weight of an individual tuber are varietal characters which are not related to the maturity period; the early varieties do however in general produce fewer tubers than the late varieties. Tuber number varied from year to year. In some varieties such as Sirtema and Bintje, the difference between years was not more than 4 tubers but in others such as Beveland and Urtica, differences of up to 13 tubers occurred.
