In 1956 the av. number of farrowings per yr. per sow tested was 1. 45. The number of piglings born averaged 14 per sow per yr. The most productive breeds were the Large White and the White Lop-eared. The number of piglings surviving to 21 days averaged 12. 5. Average litter weight was 11. 08 kg. at birth, 44. 07 kg. at 21 days and 115. 25 kg. at 56 days. The av. number of piglings/ born per litter was 9. 1.
