In this trial, which was the third of its kind and took place at 4 testing stations from 1st Oct. 1956 to 15th Sep. 1957, a total of 98 pens was entered from commercial and 10 from purebred flocks, together with 1 crossbred group; 97 pens completed the testing year. White Leghorns headed the breed averages with 210. 7 eggs of which 79. 8 were laid during the winter period, with a total egg weight of 11. 9 kg. and a food conversion rate of 335. 7 g. per 100 g. egg weight.
