Two trials are reported in which the following herbicides were used pre-em. : monuron, diuron, neburon, 2, 4-D amine, MCPB and simazine all at 1 kg/ha, dinoseb and chlorpropham both at 2 and 6 kg/ha, and naptalam at 2 kg/ha. Diuron gave excellent control of Galinsoga parviflora and Portulaca oleracea, and good control of Richardia brasttiensis without significantly reducing yield.
