Describes the original stocking and structure of 4 stands of ca. 47 acres (predominantly even-aged Balsam Fir resulting from a windthrow in 1883), the yield at felling and the development of the reproduction. The number of seedlings per acre declined sharply at first from 32, 000 to 2320, and was 2450 in 1957. Saplings, after a first decline from the original 1760, rose to 6960.
