The rhizomatous Bouteloua curtipendula complex of Texas

, : The rhizomatous Bouteloua curtipendula complex of Texas. Amer. J. Bot, 48: 546 p

A nonrhizomatous, bunch form of B. curtipendula, with chromosome numbers ranging from 2n = 74 to 2n = 102, is present on loose, rocky soils in western and central Texas. In central and northern Texas, a form characterized by well-developed rhizomes and chromosome numbers ranging from the tetraploid 2n = 40 to aneuploid numbers varying from 2n = 41 to 2n = 66 is common on relatively fertile, undisturbed soils.
