Abstr. 23: 302). A study was made of the effect of transplantation to different altitudes on the length of the developmental phases in miscellaneous herbage species (including festuca sulcata, f. varia and Bromus variegatus). for example, F. sulcata, transplanted from 2400 m. (where seed ripens in 96 days from sowing) to 1950m., required 101 days to ripen seed, but when transplanted to a higher altitude (2700 m.) it ripened in 90 days.
