The right time to dust coffee plantations for borer control

, : The right time to dust coffee plantations for borer control. Biologico, 26: 16

Good control of coffee berry borers (Stephanoderes hampei) depends on applying 1 % BHC dust at the crucial time. Samples of berries should be examined from late September onwards (in S. Paulo), and treatment should be started before the infestation exceeds 5%. The 2nd application should follow in 20 days, and a 3rd may be necessary if rain intervenes.
