The role of Aspen as a nurse or accessory species for Spruce plantations in Norway.

, : The role of Aspen as a nurse or accessory species for Spruce plantations in Norway.. Tagungsberichte, Deutsche Akademie der Landwirtschaftswissenschaften zu Berlin. 53, 79-86

Discusses the role of Aspen in the forestry of S. Norway. In view of greater demand for its wood, it may be more economic to save the high cost of eliminating Aspen, and the high planting cost for Spruce, by allowing Spruce to regenerate naturally under Aspen, either clearing the upper storey at a fairly early stage, or thinning it severely to obtain some good Aspen and allow fast growth of the Spruce understorey, or even to create more or less even-aged mixtures.
