A study of litter and of its contribution to the mineral-element cycle in rain forest of the Ivory Coast

, : A study of litter and of its contribution to the mineral-element cycle in rain forest of the Ivory Coast. Oecol. Plant, 5: 3, 247-66

Litter fall and its seasonal variations were measured in evergreen rain forest within the Banco National Park near Abidjan, and in the Yapo forest, 40 km. N. of Abidjan. Total annual litter production (leaves, flowers, fruits and wood) ranged between 7.2 and 13.4 metric tons/ha., varying in different years and on different sites. Leaf fall takes place mainly during the long dry season.
