Characteristics of tomato plants grown by the hydroponic method

, : Characteristics of tomato plants grown by the hydroponic method. Fiziol Biohim. Kul'tur. Host, 2: 1, 30-3

Leaves of tomatoes grown in soilless culture showed higher polyphenol oxidase, peroxidase and ascorbic acid oxidase activities and lower ascorbic acid and chlorophyll contents compared with those of plants grown in soil. The percentage of chlorophyll loosely bound with the protein-lipid complex of chloroplasts declined, and the portion of tightly bound chlorophyll rose.
