Chlorophyll and 18 S protein concentrations in the leaves of healthy and virus-infected plants

, : Chlorophyll and 18 S protein concentrations in the leaves of healthy and virus-infected plants. Proc. Can. phytopath. Soc, 24

Infected leaves (5 plant spp., 6 viruses) showed reduced levels of chlorophyll and 18 S protein, suggesting that virus infection interferes with the development or maintenance of chloroplasts. Yellow areas of leaves containing high virus cone, and leaves infected with yellows viruses contained less chlorophyll and 18 S protein than healthy leaves, while in leaves with mild symptoms these contents were only slightly lessened, despite high virus cones.
