, : Diurnal changes in livers and digestive systems of coturnix as related to three photoperiodic regimens. Poultry Science 48(2): 477-482

Male coturnix quail were reared to 4 weeks of age with periods of light and darkness 16 and 8, 12 and 12 or 6 and 6 h. Feed and water were given to appeite. Representative birds were killed at intervals of 3 or 4 h throughout the light and dark periods. Relative activity of the digestive system was described by the fullness of crop, gall bladder and caeca. The liver colour was noted at the time of weighing.
