Effect of manure and fertilizers on the growth and chemical composition of pearl-millet (Pennisetum typhoides (Burm. f.) Stapf & C. E. Hubb.) irrigated with different qualities of waters

, : Effect of manure and fertilizers on the growth and chemical composition of pearl-millet (Pennisetum typhoides (Burm. f.) Stapf & C. E. Hubb.) irrigated with different qualities of waters. Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 41: 2, 136-142

typhoides was grown in a pot experiment on clay loam soil irrigated with water of 14, 28 or 56 meq salinity/1 and sodium adsorption ratios (SAR) of 5, 10, 25 or 50 with or without f.y.m., N and P. Growth and DM yield decreased with increase in salinity and SAR of irrigation water. It was concluded that P. typhoides can be grown by irrigating with water having up to 28 meq/1 salinity, SAR of 25 and exchangeable sodium value of 32%.
