Effect of mode of milk consumption on diuresis in calves

, : Effect of mode of milk consumption on diuresis in calves. Nauch. Trudy Omsk. vet. Inst, 23: 1, 94-99

2 bull calves with fistulated ureters were on 3 times a day bucket feeding (i), and 2 similarly on teat feeding (ii) from 3 wk to 3 months of age; the total daily intake was 6 1 milk at 1 month and 4.5 1 at 2-3 months. In 60 experiments in all with (i) calves completed a feed in 30-60 sec and in 46 with (ii) in 5-12 min. With (i) the peak of diuresis reached within some 0.5 h after the feed was much higher than with (zz), and in older calves (zz) often gave no discernible peak.
