Electro-metric determination of sodium in milk

, : Electro-metric determination of sodium in milk. Latte, 38: 8, 665-68

An electrometric method is described for the direct determination of Na in milk, using a Na-sensitive electrode and Ca(OH)2 to prevent H+ interference. Six commercial milk samples, milk serum, wet-ashed samples and resin-treated samples were analysed by the electrometric procedure and flame photometry. The results from these methods were comparable only when all causes of interference were eliminated in flame photometry; otherwise the electrometric method appeared to be more accurate.
