Electron microscopy of cestode calcareous corpuscle formation

, : Electron microscopy of cestode calcareous corpuscle formation. Experimental Parasitology 24(2): 279-289

The formation of calcareous corpuscles, up to their middle size range, in anterior proglottides of glutaraldehyde/osmium-fixed Taenia taeniaeformis was examined with the electron microscope. The earliest appearance of corpuscles is as cavities in some parenchymal cells that lack glycogen. The cavity contains a homogeneous matrix and granular material that becomes progressively organized into concentric layers.
