, : Geo-cultural transformation in the farming areas of South West Africa. Banner Geogr. Abh. Geogr. Inst. Univ

In 1960 there were 95, 006 farmers in South West Africa; 20, 770 were white settlers mainly of Dutch and German origin. In addition there were 59, 859 native farmers and 12, 085 coloured making up 51 per cent. of the total population of the area. The greatest farm labour requirements fall between November and December, which is the rainy season. Native workers are contracted for the larger white-owned farms by the South West African Native Labour Association.
