Hardboards from Poplar wood

, : Hardboards from Poplar wood. Tappi. 51: 9, 108A-111A

Populus tremuloides chips were pulped by the Asplund process and formed into hardboards by the wet process. The boards, when manufactured without resin, were weaker than boards made from coniferous woods, but addition of resin or starch gave boards of acceptable strength. When manufactured without sizing agents, the water sorption of both Poplar and coniferous boards was similar.
