Hothouse tomatoes. The effects of artificial light and night temperature

, : Hothouse tomatoes. The effects of artificial light and night temperature. Tuinbouwberichten, 33: 427-31

The control plants were grown with natural daylight and the test plants with a 15-hour lighting at 2, 000 lux, except when natural daylight intensity exceeded 5, 000 lux. Night and day temperatures were controlled at 16 degrees and 21 degrees C., respectively, but day temperatures were about 2 degrees higher where artificial lighting was supplied. From the time of planting out this extra daytime heat was eliminated. The seeds were sown on 3 dates, a fortnight apart, beginning on 31 October.
