Infectious diseases of newborn calves

, : Infectious diseases of newborn calves. Zentbl. VetMed, 12B: 1-12

Paper electrophoresis of sera of 60 calves showed that parenteral administration of gamma-globulin produced a temporary rise in serum gamma-globulin but this did not always protect against natural coli-form infection. Bacteriological examination of 1, 023 nasal swabs from 162 calves in 8 herds showed that healthy calves have a nasal flora which is predominantly Gram-positive.
