New spider mite poses threat to California's solanaceous crops

, : New spider mite poses threat to California's solanaceous crops. Calif. Agric, 21: 10, 10-12

A new spider mite [Tetranychus marianae] found in southern California poses a threat to solanaceous crops. The species is highly destructive to tomatoes, potatoes, and eggplant. Black nightshade is a preferred native host and serves as a useful indicator plant for determining distribution of the mite pest.
