, : Observations on the number of larval instars of rae paddy borer, Tryporyza incertulas (Walker). Acta phytophyl. sin, Peking, 3: 3, 275-286

Rearing experiments and field observations in China showed that over 80 per cent. of the larvae of Tryporyza incertulas (Wlk.) have four instars and that fewer than 10 per cent. have five or more. The number depends at least on temperature and food. Three moults prevail at 29-35 degrees C. and four at 23-29 degrees C..
