Occurrence and vertical distribution of Azotobacter and Beijerinckia in some soil profiles of the humid zone of Pernambuco

, : Occurrence and vertical distribution of Azotobacter and Beijerinckia in some soil profiles of the humid zone of Pernambuco. Pesq. agropec. bras, 4: 47-52

In 12 soil profiles including podzolic, latosolic and alluvial soils, both Azotobacter and Beijerinckia were found down to the 50 cm depth studied. In light-textured soils, Azotobacter was evenly distributed or increased with depth, but in heavy-textured soils highest numbers were found in the 0-20 cm layer.
