Peripheral glucose metabolism in control subjects and diabetic patients during glucose, glucose-insulin and insulin sensitivity tests

, : Peripheral glucose metabolism in control subjects and diabetic patients during glucose, glucose-insulin and insulin sensitivity tests. Diabetologia. 1: 43-53

Subjects were 4 with diabetes of late onset, without ketosis and controllable by diet or antidiabetic drugs, 4 with diabetes of juvenile type, with ketosis and dependent on insulin, and 4 healthy men. Tolerance tests were made with glucose by mouth, glucose load accompanied by injection of insulin, or a small dose of insulin alone, injected into the brachial artery. Glucose uptake by deep tissues of the forearm was estimated from arteriovenous difference.
