Phosphate fertilizing of grassland on calcareous bog

, : Phosphate fertilizing of grassland on calcareous bog. Pam. Pulawski, 37: 175

The soil (pH 7.45), containing 21% organic matter and 40% CaCO3, was treated with superphosphate or basic slag at 72 kg/ha P2O5 annually for 3 years or as a storage dressing of 216 kg P2O5. In addition, 32P-labelled CaH4(PO4)2 was applied to organic grassland soils and arable soils in the laboratory. Tabular data are given of the effects of P fertilizing in increasing hay yields (by up to 40%) and slightly altering the sward's botanical composition.
