Productivity of rolling areas in the Mazurian Lakeland in the light of 3-year area investigations

, : Productivity of rolling areas in the Mazurian Lakeland in the light of 3-year area investigations. Wiad. Inst. Melior. Uzyt. Ziel, 6: 3, 215-48. Bibl. 28

The relationship between crop yield and topography was studied in a rolling area in the Mazurian Lakeland in 1956-8. Excessive rainfall at harvest time reduced crop yields more than did water shortage at critical growth stages. In general, the highest yields were obtained from the basal zone of slopes and the lowest from the slopes themselves. Topography exerted a strong influence on grain-protein content and on the composition of grass/clover mixtures.
