Routine alternation of two anthelmintics in horses for effective reduction of strongyle eggs

, : Routine alternation of two anthelmintics in horses for effective reduction of strongyle eggs. SWest. Vet, 18: 4, 299-305

In order to counter the developed tolerance of equine strongyles to phenothiazine, experiments are described in which 2 anthelmintics were alternated. 39 horses were involved in the experiments and dosed with 12.5 or 25 g. phenothiazine; some received additional therapeutic doses of "Equinetic Vermifuge". Control animals received a low level, daily dose of phenothiazine.
