Salmonellosis in chicks caused by S. muenster

, : Salmonellosis in chicks caused by S. muenster. VetMed. Nauki, Sof, 3: 47-53

The chief source of infection was the incubators, which themselves were contaminated by infected eggs. Of hens that had recovered from the disease, 0.3% were salmonella carriers, and salmonella was isolated from 0.59% of the egg shells. Up to 40% of chicks died between 5 and 10 days after hatching. No conjunctivitis, respiratory disorders or P.M. changes in lung and cardiac muscle were observed.
