Some recent indirect methods for determining lodging resistance in wheat

, : Some recent indirect methods for determining lodging resistance in wheat. Z. Acker- u. PflBau. 119: 1, 70-80. bibl. 9

Various criteria of lodging resistance were compared with wind-tunnel testing of 7 wheat varieties given various quantities and types of N. There was a close correlation between stand-density and lodging. The culm length at flowering was negatively correlated with lodging resistance but had less effect at later growth stages. The relative lengths of 5 internodes, and the number of adventitious roots from the topmost tillering node were significant in lodging resistance.
