, : Studies on serum vitamin A levels after a single massive oral dose. Indian Journal of Medical Research 57(11): 2147-2150

Indian children, 94 between 2 and 6 years old, were given a single dose of 100, 000 micro g vitamin A and blood samples were taken, 4 months later in 13 children, 1 year later in 57, and 2 years later in 24 children. A further 34 children were not given any vitamin A. Serum vitamin A values were significantly higher in the children given the vitamin, highest 4 months after the dose, 37.4+or- 3.78 micro g per 100ml.
