Studies on the catechins of tea. III. Varietal differences in catechin content

, : Studies on the catechins of tea. III. Varietal differences in catechin content. Chagyo Gijutsu Kenkyu/Stud. Tea. 29, 85-98

A paper-chromatographic analysis of varieties from Japan, China, Taiwan, Assam and the Caucasus and some hybrids is reported. Clones suitable for black tea had a higher overall content of catechins. While most clones were similar in the proportion of their catechins, some could be distinguished from the general type by deviation in the proportion of one or more constituents.
