Studies on the natural enemies of the Comstock mealybug. II. Comparative biology of two species of internal parasites, Clausenia purpurea and Pseudaphycus malinus (Hymenoptera, Encyr-tidae)

, : Studies on the natural enemies of the Comstock mealybug. II. Comparative biology of two species of internal parasites, Clausenia purpurea and Pseudaphycus malinus (Hymenoptera, Encyr-tidae). Bull. hort. Res. Stat. Hiratsuka. 5, 139-63. bibl. 5

purpurea parasitizes only the first and second instar nymphs of the mealybug Pseudococcus comstocki, whereas P. malinus parasitizes every nymphal stage as well as the adult female. P. malinus may therefore be liberated in orchards from spring to autumn.
