The Japanese sugar economy

, : The Japanese sugar economy. F. O. Licht's int. Sugar Rep. (Ratzeburg), Jan. 96: special ed, 7-16

Japan was self-sufficient in sugar prior to World War II, with Taiwan being its principal source of supply. This paper deals with Japanese demand and supply (primarily imports), beet and cane sugar production, the refining industry, and marketing, pricing, and consumption in the post-war period. The Japanese government liberalized sugar imports in August 1963.
